This is another Peewee sketch done by our grandmother, Virginia Burleigh Oliver, that we did not include in the book. People have asked me how much of Peewee's First Adventure was her and how much of it was me. It is HER story. I shortened and simplified it's content. Grandma's draft was 1,764 words and I cut it down to 1,040.
Midway through, Kristin and I realized we wanted to keep telling Peewee's story, so the ending needed to be changed. Grandma's ending had Peewee content and happy to be living in his cage. We needed him to desire to get out again to discover and learn. This led me to change the title from Peewee-pogo-bomba to Peewee's First Adventure.
I have the distinct pleasure of knowing which words in the story are exactly my grandmother's and they warm my heart each time I read them. I can picture my grandmother, standing in her kitchen and exclaiming, "For a moment I was quite flattened out." I can close my eyes and see her standing in her living room saying, "I was very glad to have them for I had put a lot of work into making them." The discovery of her draft was a gift I will always be grateful for.

When Tracy and Kristin first self-published Peewee's First Adventure, Tracy's Aunt Susan mailed her this adorable stuffed hamster. It has become peeweediscovers.com's lucky stuffie.
